Stellantis Recalls 12,592 New Ram 1500s Over Headlights That Can Just Stop Working
A wiring defect in premium headlamp assemblies built between late October 2025 and mid-February 2026 can make the parking lights and daytime running lights flicker or fail outright.
Stellantis is recalling roughly 12,592 2026 Ram 1500 pickups in the US over a headlight wiring defect that can cause the parking lights and daytime running lights to flicker intermittently or stop working altogether. The affected trucks are limited to a specific slice of DT-platform production: those built with premium headlamp assemblies supplied by Marelli North America between October 29, 2025, and February 16, 2026, the window during which the defective parts were installed.
NHTSA's filing on the recall, numbered 62D internally at Stellantis, ties the defect to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, which governs lamps and reflective equipment. Lights that fail to illuminate properly cut into a truck's visibility to other drivers, which is the safety concern driving the campaign rather than any issue with the headlights' primary low-and-high-beam function.
The fix itself is straightforward: dealers will inspect the headlamp assemblies and replace them where necessary, at no cost to the owner. The rollout is happening in two steps — interim notification letters alerting owners to the safety risk were scheduled to go out July 30, 2026, with a second letter to follow once the replacement parts and final remedy procedure are ready. Owners with questions can reach Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403, referencing recall number 62D, or NHTSA's own Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
