Tarmac n Torque is a small, independent publication. This policy covers the actual, current data practices of this site in plain language — there's no ad network, no account system, and no tracking beyond what's described below.
What we collect
Newsletter signups.If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect the email address you provide. That's the only personal information this site asks for anywhere.
Server logs.Like any website, our hosting infrastructure automatically logs standard technical information (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and performance purposes. We don't use this data to build individual profiles, and we don't run any advertising trackers on this site.
Site analytics.We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to see aggregate traffic patterns — which pages get read, general geographic region, referring sites, and device/browser type — and to monitor page load performance. This runs without cookies or any persistent identifier, and it isn't tied to your name, email, or any other personal information. We can't use it to identify an individual visitor or track you across other sites.
How we use it
Your email address is used solely to send the Tarmac n Torque newsletter. We don't sell, rent, or share your email with anyone for marketing purposes.
Third-party services
Newsletter delivery is handled by Buttondown, a third-party email service. Your email address is stored on their platform for this purpose — see their privacy policy for how they handle it. Our site is hosted on Vercel, which also provides the cookieless analytics described above.
Cookies
This site does not set any tracking or advertising cookies. Our analytics (described above) is cookieless by design. If that changes in the future, this policy will be updated to reflect it.
Your choices
Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link — one click removes you immediately. You can also reach out to us directly to have your email address deleted from our records.
Children's privacy
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If our data practices change — say, we add a new third-party tool — we'll update this page and the date at the top.
